Leon de Kock – Managing Director
Leon de Kock matriculated from Hottentots Holland High School in 1975. He joined Standard Bank and was a member of their Foreign exchange department when he left to join the Rovic Group as accountant in 1980.
In 1984 Leon left the group to join Old Mutual’s Broker Division. During this period he was instrumental in developing a computerized system to provide feedback to brokers. Here he gained invaluable experience in project facilitating, as well as the practical application of systems in the corporate environment.
He resigned from Old Mutual in 1994 and has since been involved in business consulting and the management of companies with particular focus on their systems architecture. He has produced various systems including the broker management and feedback system for Old Mutual, an integrated general ledger system, various point of sale applications, a broker management system for Real People Financial Services, a real time assurance commission application for IEMAS Broker Services, a cricket scoring system, a cash flow and viability analysis model, an engineering, bill of materials and manufacturing system and the product and investment management system utilised by Prop@T Group.
Leon is married to Siska and has two sons. He is a Director of various companies.
Andre Steyn – Manager IT
Andre has developed military grade software for the SA Navy, SA Military, Royal Air Force and the French military. He has also developed Practice Management Software for the Healthcare and Optometric Industry.
Andre has worked for MTM on call and tower security systems where calls had to be securely handled at a rate of 250 000 calls a minute.
Andre has a wealth of experience in 3GL, Delphi, CodeWeaver,Java, MS SQL Server,Firebird, Interbase and Oracle databases.
Andre co-founded X/procure, an electronic procurement system for the pharmaceutical industry, in 2000. In 2012 X/procure was utilised by 63% of all South African pharmacies which utilise electronic procurement software.
X/procure further consists of X/procure® portal ordering, X/procure® ‘s telesales ordering system, the X/points™ loyalty programme, the MINT mobile ordering system as well as, from late 2010 – XP Digital™, which offers marketers and pharmaceutical manufacturers a unique advertising platform to clients in 102 strategically selected Clicks, and all Dis-Chem stores countrywide.
One of the biggest achievements of X/procure® was winning the Technology Top 100 award in 2008 followed by the company being selected as a qualifier for the TT100 awards in 2006/2007 and as a TT100 award finalist in 2005, the very first time X/procure® entered for these awards.
X/procure was eventually sold to Primedia where Andre still serves on the Exco committee of the company and acts as a consultant. Up until 2012 more than R44 billion in pharmaceutical orders have been processed through the X/procure® system, a phenomenal achievement in just 10 years!
Madré de Kock – Accountant (not related to Leon)
Madré graduated from the University of Stellenbosch obtaining a B.Comm degree in 1989. She received the Chancellors medal for attaining the highest average marks for the duration of the degree, and a further award for the best overall final year student. Working full-time and studying part-time, she completed this 4 year course in 3 years, the first student to do so since 1963. Whilst studying part time, she worked in the actuarial division of Sanlam. Here she was exposed to product development and risk management of large national companies.
She continued with her studies through UNISA and obtained the B.Compt (Hons) degree in 1997 majoring in Income Tax and Accounting. During this period, she travelled extensively throughout the world obtaining valuable insight into international commerce.
Thereafter she moved to the Cape West Coast with her husband and joined the, then new, private hospital in Vredenburg. Here she headed the Accounting and Human Resources divisions of the hospital. She was approached by Saldanha Steel in 1999 to join their treasury department which gave her further exposure to international and forex markets.
In 2002 Madré left the corporate environment to join her husband in several of their own business ventures, and has since focused on consulting and accounting services to medium sized companies throughout South Africa.
At F1 Group she is currently responsible for the total accounting processes and procedures of more than 20 companies.
